Our 2024 Activities Team

Tana & Doug McCormick,
Activities Directors

Tana and Doug McCormick have a long history with Red River. They both learned to ski here many years ago!

Tana and Doug have spent much of their adult lives working with children, from coaching little league, and youth basketball, to leading youth groups at church.

When Doug retired from the fire department and Tana sold her business and retired in 2014, they bought an RV and traveled all across the US. Throughout the years, though, they kept finding their way back to Red River. Finally, they decided to just stay the entire summer, and they’ve been coming back yearly since.

Tana and Doug started volunteering at the Red River Community House in 2018, and have been more involved each year. They truly love giving back to this wonderful community, and helping families make lifelong memories. They are looking forward to an incredible summer!

Emily Scarborough

Hi, I’m Emily! I’m from Tomball, near Houston, TX. I love playing soccer, skiing, and rock climbing.  After spending two years in the Momentous college program in Glorieta, NM, I just finished my first year at Toccoa Falls College in Georgia, where I play on the women's soccer team. I am majoring in outdoor leadership, and plan to follow whatever else God has planned for my life!

I remember my first time visiting Red River being met by a bunch of bighorn sheep spread across the road. It was an incredible introduction. I can’t wait for the pretty views and amazing community of Red River this summer! This is my third summer interning at the Community House!

Emily is the lead intern coordinator and liaison this summer.

Chloe Haaland

Hi, I’m Chloe! I am from Dalhart, Texas and a Junior at Baylor University studying Nutrition with a minor in business. Before transferring to Baylor in the fall of 2023, I attended an outdoor college gap year program close to Santa Fe, New Mexico where I took college classes, dove into theology, and enjoyed outdoor activities. Some of my favorite things include dancing of any kind, snowboarding, rock climbing, traveling, and playing piano.

I learned to both ski and snowboard in Red River and I am so excited to be returning as an activities leader for my 3rd summer! I am looking forward to enjoying the summer while being outdoors, meeting new people, and hosting fun activities!

Chloe is the intern coordinator of dancing and family fun events for this summer!

Grace Morgan

Howdy, I’m Grace Morgan! I’m from a small town in deep East Texas. I’m currently a senior at the University of Texas at San Antonio where I am studying environmental studies, and will graduate in December 2024. I love all things outdoors, including hiking, kayaking, outdoor Bible studies, and all things plants.

My family has been visiting the Red River Community House since before I was born. I’m very excited to spend the summer working at the Community House in Red River for the second year in a row!

Grace is the intern coordinator of outdoor recreation programs and assistant scheduler for staff this summer!

Christy Brown

Hello! My name is Christy and I live in Huffman, Texas. I’m finishing up my sophomore year in college and hope to become an Elementary Music Educator. My passions are seeking the Lord and playing music.

I’ve always thought of Red River as a magical place growing up, with God’s beautiful nature, the Community House, and beyond friendly people. This will be my second summer as an activities leader and I’m so excited to see what God has planned for this summer!

Christy is the intern coordinator of music and children's Sunday School this summer!

Ashley Hudson

Hi! My name is Ashley, and I am from College Station, Texas. Being a communications major at Texas A&M, I love making new friends and getting to know people. A few facts to get to know me is that I can name (and sing) EVERY Taylor Swift song, I am obsessed with my crockpot, and I love to put on my cowgirl boots and go dancing. I can't wait to get to know y'all!

I am so excited to be a part of Red River Community House's Summer Activities Team! I have been coming to the Community House for two decades now (I am a 2 time boat race champion), and I feel so lucky to be playing a role in this community that made my childhood so special. Growing up, my favorite things to do in Red River were to go skiing
with my dad, go shopping with my Nana, and go four-wheeling with my Grandad. I can't wait to make more memories this summer!

Ashley will be the intern coordinator for social media and theatrical performances this summer!
